Panorama Zenith Spot Removal

Have you ever noticed the zenith star in some folks panoramas.  Sometimes its there and other times it is not.

In a spherical panorama the small star you see when you tilt all the way up to the top of the image is actually caused by the wrapped image AFTER it has been stitched.  The Star is the very 2 to 5 pixel area in the top of the image.

How do you get rid of it?  Couple of ways.

First on the Nikon 990, use AE Lock so that the lighting settings are equal between all three (or two) images.  That helps balance the lighting and produce the same color region in the stitched images.

Ok.. so you did your best with the AE Lock and lighting, but it still is visible.  Here is the second way.  Use the clone tool in your favorite photo editor and select a color pattern and color from just below the very top of the image.  Target the color and pattern and apply the texture to the top 4 or 5 pixel area.  When viewed in the viewer.. the star is gone.  Here is a picture of what I am talking about.
